The Rattan Sticks Grand Master by Fightingsticks are distinguished combat sticks for exquisite taste. Their fine carvings recall a long tradition of martial arts in Southeast Asia.
Our Grand Master Rattan Sticks are unpeeled, the skin provides them with special stability. Each Rattan stick is straight, the cross section is round. These sticks can endure an intense combat sports training without difficulty. Their special elegance is owed to their extraordinary design. The spiral is burned into the surface with open fire. Afterwards, subtle patterns are carved into it. The light color contrasts the dark spiral. These sticks are first choice for highly respected grandmasters of the martial arts. They’re often presented as gifts for special occasions.
Rattans Sticks are in general the first choice when it comes to stick fighting. They’re well known for being used in Filipino Martial Arts like Escrima, Arnis and Kali. Southeast Asia has a long tradition in fighting with blunt weapons and live blades. The Philippine combat arts were developed long before the archipelago was conquered by the Spanish crown. Conquistador Ferdinand Magellan underestimated the skills of the local chieftain Lapu-Lapu and his men. As a result the adventurer was defeated and slain. In the neighbor country of Indonesia, warrior traditions were passed on from generation to generation. Today this legacy is preserved in Pencak Silat. Southeast Asian stick fighting has conquered the world in the 20th century. Nowadays, more and more people in Europe and Northern America practice this kind of self-defense.
